This policy explains what information Ascending Careers collects, why, and what choices you have about it. It's written in plain language rather than dense legal text, but it covers everything that matters.

What Ascending Careers is

Ascending Careers helps working professionals capture real moments from their work and turn them into grounded, accurately articulated career material for interviews, performance reviews, promotion cases and CV updates.

Our guiding rule is that the product clarifies and articulates evidence you actually provide; it does not invent achievements or inflate your seniority. This policy describes how we handle the information you give us in service of that.

Information you provide

You provide information to Ascending Careers in a few ways:

Account details when you sign up (such as your email address).
Career entries: descriptions of work you've done, written or spoken.
Any files or documents you choose to attach as supporting evidence.
Payment details when you purchase access, which are handled directly by our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card details.

Authentication and account information

We keep the account information needed to authenticate you and keep your account secure, such as your email address and login credentials. We support standard secure authentication methods and may introduce additional options, such as passkeys, over time.

Career entries and AI-generated content

What you originally write or record (your raw entries and any edits you make to them) is treated as the source of truth. When we generate a suggestion, summary, or output for you, it's produced from that original entry, not from an earlier AI-generated version, so the AI's own earlier guesses can't quietly compound into something further from what actually happened.

You review and confirm anything before it becomes part of your confirmed evidence or is used to generate a report or output.

Voice transcription

If you record a career entry by voice, that audio is used only to produce a text transcription of what you said. Once the transcription is complete, we do not keep the original audio recording.

AI processing of your content

To generate suggestions, summaries and drafted outputs, some of your content is sent to third-party AI language model providers. We only send what's needed to complete that specific task, and where a provider offers a setting to exclude submitted content from being used to train their models, we use it.

Product analytics

We use analytics tools to understand how the product is used, such as which features are opened, how long a task takes, what marketing campaign brought you here, and whether an action succeeded or failed. This kind of analytics data never includes the actual text of your career entries or evidence.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and improve the service, generate the outputs you ask for, process payment for paid access, communicate with you about your account, and understand overall product usage on an aggregate basis.

Data retention

We keep your career entries and generated outputs for as long as your account is active, so the product remains useful to you over time. Where you've indicated a source file or attachment can be deleted after review, it's removed on that schedule automatically, independently of whether you later delete your account.

Exporting your data

You can export your data at any time, whether or not you currently have an active paid entitlement. An export separates your original entries, your edits, AI-generated suggestions, the evidence you've confirmed, and any reports or outputs, so you can see clearly what's yours and what the product added.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from within the product. Deletion requires you to re-authenticate first, and once confirmed, it cascades through the data and files associated with your account. We keep a minimal record that an account was deleted, for security purposes. This record doesn't contain your career content and can't be traced back to identify you.

Security and limitations

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information. That said, no method of storing or transmitting data online is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

Employers and other users of the product cannot access your private entries through Ascending Careers. That said, use your own judgement about what you record. Some workplaces have confidentiality obligations that are worth keeping in mind before you capture something in detail.

Children's privacy

Ascending Careers is intended for working professionals and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and where a change is material, we'll let you know through the product or by email.
